At Bournemouth University our vision is to create the most stimulating, challenging and rewarding university experience in a world-class learning community by sharing our unique fusion of excellent education, research and professional practice and inspiring our students, graduates and staff to enrich the world.
We were the first university to be commended by the Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education (QAA) for the quality of student learning opportunities and in 2012 we won the Queens Anniversary Award for Higher Education. We are currently changing the face of the university through our new, transformational estates programme with a stunning series of iconic new buildings, and we are continuing to invest further in our intellectual capital by seeking to appoint high calibre teams and individuals to our award-winning Faculties.
The Faculty has a reputation in the areas of social work and a wide range of healthcare professional courses. It seeks to complement these areas by further developing its social care portfolio. The successful candidate will be key to this development.
As Professor of Social Care, you will be able to demonstrate the leadership skills to grow both research and education in the area of social care. This will involve interdisciplinary coordination with colleagues from social work and healthcare disciplines. Enthusiastic about student-centred pedagogy, you will contribute to education delivery, including programme management as required, across the range of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. You will also make a significant contribution to employability, and professional engagement with relevant internal and external organisations, at a regional, national and international level.
You will be qualified to Doctorate level or equivalent in a relevant field. You will have demonstrated global research leadership and you will be committed to a culture of academic excellence and continuous improvement.
Applications are welcome from those with particular expertise in the areas of adult social care, older people and integrated services. A qualification in social work would be an advantage.
