Position Summary

The position will be viewed as the coordinating focal point for four independent research committees and, as such, will serve as the critical link between the RICRO coordinators and the research community. Essential job functions include organizing and balancing multiple and competing priorities; managing communication dynamics with investigators and committee members; attention to detail; a commitment to confidentiality; skillful navigation of difficult or complex situations and the ability to work closely with others in a dynamic environment.

Required Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in any field plus two years of research administration and/or regulatory compliance experience.
  • Demonstrated customer service experience with emphasis on event management and attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze and prioritize scientific project submissions.
  • Proficiency with computer software packages (Microsoft Office Suite) including word-processing, excel spreadsheets, and databases
  • Proven ability to interact with a variety of individuals including faculty, administrators, government officials, colleagues, and support staff.

Preferred Job Qualifications

  • Experience with grants and/or Kuali Financial Systems (KFS)
  • Direct experience with animal or human research, or research with infectious agents

Research Compliance Committee Support and Customer Service

Duty/Responsibility

  • Review incoming research proposals, perform intake and pre-review, direct proposals to the appropriate coordinator. Communicate with researchers to explain when approval may be needed, direct them to appropriate RICRO websites, and gauge the overall urgency of the submission.
  • Assist and support the Associate Director and Director with annual Conflict Of Interest disclosure reporting.
  • Organize and assist with development and review, and revision of all Standard Operating Procedures for research compliance committee operations
  • Conduct purposeful interactions with investigators, research compliance committees (IBC and IACUC, among others) and RICRO coordinators in an effort to provide guidance and assistance to questions, concerns and activities related to the mission and scope of the office.

Duty/Responsibility

  • Provide administrative support to the Director and RICRO coordinators including administration and institution compliance in travel, procurement, leave reporting, PCard and human resource recording.
  • Scheduling and supervision of students performing administrative tasks, and communicating schedules to RICRO staff.
  • Effective RICRO representation to the campus community and campus visitors
  • Assist with implementation of online project management programs and report generation using research-tracking databases and in compliance with institution, state and federal regulations.
