Birkbeck is a world-class research and teaching institution and London’s only specialist provider of evening higher education.

Birkbeck is now planning ambitiously towards a horizon of 2023, the 200th anniversary of the College. This is an ideal time to join an institution committed to its long-standing mission, but, equally, energetically committed to the innovation, development and pursuit of opportunities that will see that mission flourish into its third century.

We are seeking an outstanding individual who can provide effective professional leadership to the Birkbeck HR function, who has the experience and presence to command the trust and respect of our academic community and work closely with them in our collegial environment.  You will combine the ability to operate strategically with a clear commitment and focus on operational service delivery and ongoing process improvement. Along with the capacity to innovate, to lead change and support development, you will also work collaboratively as part of the College’s broader senior management team.

You will be responsible for our People Strategy and the delivery of a high quality, effective HR service to support the College in meeting its objectives.  Applicants must have significant HR leadership experience, strong influencing and political skills and be adept at managing change in a complex operating environment.

This post is full-time and open-ended. The appointment is subject to a probationary period. Birkbeck also provides a generous defined benefit pension scheme, 31 days paid leave, flexible working arrangements and other great benefits.

The closing date for applications is midnight on Wednesday 29 March 2017

Shortlisted candidates will meet key stakeholders during the w/c 24 April 2017 and need to be available for interview on 2 May 2017
