Li Dak Sum Liberal Arts Chair Professor will be a distinguished academic and active leader with strong international track record of pursuing research beyond others at the Professor rank as evidenced by publications, grants, awards, citations, national and international presentations and invitations, including media, teaching awards and professional publications, standing in professional associations, records of innovation and other such indicators of excellence and eminence including peer evaluations. A sustained record of excellence in teaching and supervision of students at various levels documented through student evaluations, career destinations and achievements of students supervised, along with joint publications. A record of leadership of faculties, schools or departments, and research groups, including successful mentoring of early career and junior faculty is desirable. S/He will have had major roles in university-level committees or similar.
The appointed candidate will be an eminent international leader in teaching and research with a specialism in any area of liberal arts broadly understood, but also highly committed to interdisciplinary research and teaching at the frontiers of contemporary endeavor. Evidence of creativity and innovation, including activities or interests in the creative industries and perhaps also performing arts will be looked for. Further team appointments will be considered, such as post-doc fellows, research assistants, full- or part-time additional academic appointments.

The post will initially be offered on a fixed term contract with the University of Nottingham, Ningbo, China for a period of five years starting 1 March 2017 or as soon as possible thereafter. This contract may be extended on an indefinite basis by mutual agreement.
