The successful candidate will be expected to develop and lead a high profile research team in one or more of the following themes: coastal hazards; marine resource management; water resources and flood risk management in coastal cities.  The successful candidate will lead the Environmental Science theme within the International Academy of Marine Economy and Technology (IAMET).  In particular, the successful candidate will be expected to deliver strong and impactful research output and secure significant external research funding to enable the university achieve the targets of its ambitious Strategy 2020 plan. Candidates should have achieved and sustained an international reputation in research, and have a track record of leadership and management of research teams.

Salary is negotiable depending on skills and experience. In addition, an attractive package including accommodation allowance, travel allowance and insurance will be provided for international appointments.

The post will initially be offered on a fixed term contract with the University of Nottingham, Ningbo, China for a period of up to five years starting 1 March 2017 or as soon as possible thereafter. This contract may be extended on an indefinite basis by mutual agreement.
