University of the West of Scotland is a leading edge modern University and we are at an exciting stage in our development.  We have renewed our academic and international focus and are growing our research and knowledge exchange. 

This two year fixed-term appointment is an important business development and management role newly created in the School of Business and Enterprise and will be a key lead for the sourcing, development, implementation, co-ordination and management of international training courses run by the School for international partners, with a specific focus on China in the first instance.

These training courses can vary from a few days in length through to 12 weeks or longer, with largely bespoke training content, designed and developed for a range of subject matters and a range of individual, international client organisations.   Mainly these courses will be based at one of UWS’s five UK campuses, however they may also include visits throughout the UK and/or be based in other countries.

The post-holder will be responsible for identifying and securing appropriate international training course business opportunities. The post holder will also be expected to make an active contribution to the future build of the School’s international portfolio whilst working in partnership with other departments in the University.

We seek applications from candidates who have proven business development experience, business planning and project planning skills; and experience of leading mixed teams of academic and support staff in commercial projects.  A proven track record of successful liaison with international organisations, with a particular emphasis on China to begin with are essential;  This will be combined with a working knowledge of the Chinese University system and being fluent in Mandarin.
