The University is continuing its ambitious plans to develop its research base in areas where significant strength already exists and in some new areas critical to its regional mission.  It has continued to invest heavily in building links with business and we believe our research has an important role to play in the future economic growth and regeneration of the region.  We are now making preparations for even more of our research to be recognised as “world leading” including the establishment of three new research institutes including the Education Observatory. 

In this newly created Professorial role you will work with our extensive network of schools and colleges to develop innovative applied research and to enhance the standing of Education research by:

  • increasing the quality and number of high impact publication;
  • supporting and providing leadership in the expansion of education research;
  • the development of a research culture in the Faculty;
  • the development of post graduate students and
  • the generation of research income.

You will be a credible leader and manager with a distinguished national/international research record in any area of the University’s core business, and a track record of income generation, PhD supervisions and working in partnership.  Sound knowledge of national mechanisms for research assessment and funding is also essential.
