The University is continuing its ambitious plans to develop its research base in areas where significant strength already exists and in some new areas critical to its regional mission.  It has continued to invest heavily in building links with business and we believe our research has an important role to play in the future economic growth and regeneration of the region.  We are now making preparations for even more of our research to be recognised as “world leading” including the establishment of a new research institute in Cybersecurity. 

The School of Mathematics and Computer Science is committed to growing its teaching, research and consultancy portfolio and extending its active links with industry/commerce in the discipline area of cybersecurity, with ambitious aspirations to develop a national and international reputation.  The post holder of this founding professorship will be a leading international figure with the ability to attract world-class academics to the newly established Wolverhampton Cyber Research Institute (WCRI), and will be expected to provide strategic leadership in establishing and developing both an entrepreneurial and sustainable business plan for this new cross-Faculty Research Institute. In addition to leading on the development of a new postgraduate MSc course, you will contribute at a strategic and influential level in developing the academic discipline in terms of providing up-to-date continuing professional development (CPD) for industry and other stakeholders outside the University, as well as the creation of commercialisation opportunities.
