Head of Chemical Engineering Department

The School of Engineering invites applications for a full-time Head of Chemical Engineering Department, providing academic leadership in all aspects of its operations, in the academic programs in terms of the bachelor and master program in Chemical Engineering and in the contribution of the Department to research through the PhD programs of the School. The Head of Department manages the academic staff and teaching assistants and is the primary responsible person for human resource management. In view of the expansion of the Department and the School, the Head of Department will be involved heavily in capacity building in terms of infrastructure and staff. The Head of Department is a standing member of the School Board and reports to the Dean of the School.

Required qualifications: a Bachelor/Diploma in Chemical Engineering and a Ph.D. degree from a reputed university in Chemical Engineering or a closely related field. The successful candidate will have significant academic leadership experience and capabilities of the highest international standards, and will possess strong communication and interpersonal skills. He/she will demonstrate relevant experience in academic program development and excellent academic records in terms of publications, research support fundraising, and scientific supervision of both research groups and graduate students (Master and PhD). The Head of Department will serve as a strong example, encouraging and supporting the international standards in research and teaching.   
The NU campus is located in Astana, the capital of Kazakhstan, in the heart of Eurasia at the new and ultra-modern Left-Bank region of the city. Incoming faculty will enjoy a cosmopolitan living experience, interwoven with traditional cultural influences in food and entertainment.

Initial appointment is on a 3-year renewable contract and subsequent appointments can be 5-year/3-year renewable subject to annual performance reviews. An attractive internationally competitive remuneration package will include:
