The University’s Faculty of Pharmacy graduates approximately 300 pharmacists each year who enter the workforce via the faculty’s undergraduate degrees, Bachelor of Pharmacy and Bachelor of Pharmacy and Management, and the graduate entry Master of Pharmacy program. The faculty employs 40 continuing academic staff of whom 12 are full professors. Currently, there are over 100 higher degree research students (mostly PhD candidates) in the faculty, with around 10 graduating each year.
The appointment of the Chair of Clinical Pharmacy carries academic responsibilities in the learning and teaching, research, and service portfolios at the University of Sydney. In addition, this position contributes to the hospital community in terms of quality patient care, inter-professional teaching, leadership in clinical research and health care service, more generally.
You will be appointed at the professorial level in the Faculty of Pharmacy at the University of Sydney and will be based at both the University and Royal Prince Alfred Hospital (RPAH).
In this position, you will:
- foster excellence and provide pivotal leadership in research, teaching and policy development in the faculty and at RPAH
- contribute to an expanding program of professional and industry research collaboration, with a focus on the faculty’s core research themes and existing research groups, and build partnerships with relevant industry, academic and health-related organisations and research teams
- provide leadership in scholarship through innovative and distinguished competitively funded research
- promote inter-professional collaboration between pharmacy and other health care students and between various health practitioners in the clinical setting as well as through the teaching of pharmacy students.
The position is full-time continuing, subject to the completion of a satisfactory probation period for new appointees.
