As a teacher on one of our summer Pre-sessional programmes, you will deliver academic language and literacy classes to postgraduate and/or undergraduate students who have been conditionally accepted onto degree programmes at Durham University. Our courses are intensive and aim to induct and socialise students into the practices and expectations of higher-level study in English at the University. We organise the courses into discipline-specific streams (Law, MSc Business, MBA, Social Sciences, TESOL, Translation Studies, Science and Engineering) and you will be allocated to a particular stream. All teaching materials are provided.

Key Responsibilities:
• prepare and deliver EAP classes using the materials provided
• engage with the discipline specific content
• give timely, detailed feedback on students' spoken and written work
• attend a weekly staff meeting and any teacher development sessions
• maintain accurate records of work and complete other administrative tasks as required

Person Specification

• awareness of academic language and conventions and how they may differ across the University
• good interpersonal, team working and communication skills
