Help Us Build on Excellence

The University of Winchester has been delivering values-driven education for 176 years. A university on a human scale, we put our emphasis on the personal creativity and development of our students and staff. Our mission is ‘to educate, to advance knowledge and to serve the common good’. This is core to our teaching, research and knowledge exchange activity in the Faculty.

This is your chance to take the helm of a growing faculty; a university with an Outstanding OFSTED status and winner of the British Quality Foundation Excellence Award 2016.With around 150 staff and 2000 students and three departments: Education Studies and Liberal Arts, Teacher Development and Interprofessional Studies (Children, Health, Social Work and Community). We will expect to look creatively at teacher training in a challenging context and adapt our strategy to fit with this changing environment. You’ll also identify new markets, expanding our academic portfolio further. Comfortable in the public eye, you will act as our ambassador, and play a key part in shaping the University’s future.

Collegiate and collaborative in your approach to leadership, you will bring a proven track record of management and innovation in higher education. This means you will be quick to establish credibility with colleagues across the Faculty and throughout the University. An active researcher with the ability to lead other academics, you will have the skills to support the Faculty to make bids for funding and continue to develop a strong research profile. An understanding of the shifting national and international context of Initial Teacher Education, social work and health in higher education will be essential. Above all, you will share our appreciation of the power of high quality education to be a force for good in the world.

If you are approachable, articulate and adaptable with the ability to take our Faculty to the next level, we can offer an excellent range of benefits. These include a generous holiday entitlement of 30 days per annum plus bank holidays and two extra statutory days.
