The Provost and Vice President Academic (Vancouver) reports to the President and provides vision and leadership in carrying out the strategic plan of UBC. The Provost is the senior Vice-President at UBC and serves as Acting President in the absence of the President. Working with the Deans and other University leaders, he or she will play a pivotal role in advancing the University’s mission, vision and strategic goals. The Provost’s portfolio touches virtually every aspect of the University. Direct reports to the Provost include UBC’s twelve Deans, the University Librarian, CIO, Vice Provosts and Associate Provosts, Associate Vice-Presidents and Senior Advisors for Academic Freedom, Aboriginal Affairs, Women Faculty, Teaching and Learning and Digital Learning.
The ideal candidate will bring an exceptional academic record combined with a track record of success in University leadership as a Vice President, Dean or AVP. The Provost will be a strategic thinker and values-based leader with excellent relationship building and communication skills.
