The University of Newcastle Department of Rural Health (UONDRH) delivers education, research and community engagement activities aimed at improving the health and well-being of regional, rural and Indigenous communities within the New England, North West Slopes and Plains, areas of the Hunter Valley, Mid-North Coast, Manning Valley and Great Lakes regions.

Through a variety of programs the UONDRH has made it possible for undergraduate and postgraduate students studying medicine, nursing and allied health disciplines at the University of Newcastle to complete a large part of their education and training in a rural setting at one of six main locations (Tamworth, Armidale, Taree, Moree, Port Macquarie and Coffs Harbour), as well as placements in other small population centres in the region.

About the opportunity

The Lecturer or Associate Lecturer in Medical Radiation Science (Radiation Therapy) will oversee and support Medical Radiation Science (MRS) student placements in Port Macquarie and surrounding districts on the Mid-North Coast of NSW, particularly, but not exclusively, in Radiation Therapy.

You will liaise with placement supervisors and students in the region, coordinate timetabling for Medical Radiation Science students, provide sessional face-to-face teaching and collaborate with other academic and professional staff to develop and implement interprofessional education and research opportunities.

This opportunity is offered on a part-time 0.4 FTE basis, until the end of 2018. The position is based in Port Macquarie.

Skills and experience

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • A recognised Degree in Medical Radiation Science (Therapy Radiation) or related discipline (Level A) and/or a PhD (Level B).
  • Registration with Medical Radiation Practice Board of Australia.
  • A minimum of two years relevant post-graduate clinical experience.
  • Experience in teaching and student supervision.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Academic Level A - $64,804 to $87,943 per annum pro-rated to 0.4 FTE, plus employer superannuation contribution of 9.5%.

Academic Level B - $92,574 to $109,933 per annum pro-rated to 0.4 FTE, plus employer superannuation contribution of 9.5%.
