Postdoctoral position in simulations of soft materials

We welcome applications from candidates interested in computational modelling of soft materials, especially welcome are applications from candidates with an experience and interest in simulations of liquid crystals and/or hydrodynamics of colloidal materials.
The fellow will join an established Soft Matter and Biophysics team, directed by Prof. Hamid Kellay, which is an interdisciplinary group studying many aspects of soft condensed matter and biophysics. The research interests of the team include the dynamics of granular media, small-scale turbulence and the flow of complex fluids (https://www.loma.cnrs.fr/equipe-t-in/). In 2016 the team was strengthened by the hiring of two new permanent members, including an expert in numerical simulations (Lintuvuori). The laboratory is located at the Talence campus of the university of Bordeaux, with a direct tram link to the vibrant historic city centre of Bordeaux.
The project is funded by the Initiative d’excellence de l’université de Bordeaux (IdEx Bordeaux).  It offers a stimulating environment and, in addition to the numerous in-house interactions, it can offer the possibility of both international and experimental collaborations. The primary focus of the project(s) is the hydrodynamic modelling of liquid crystals using lattice Boltzmann method, but it is also possible to consider project(s) in relation with the flow of colloidal materials, for example the hydrodynamics of microswimmers in confinement. These projects will be carried out in collaboration with Juho Lintuvuori.
The position is for a duration of 2 years and available starting from early 2017.  Candidates should have a PhD by the start date (or have submitted their thesis) and have a strong background in simulations of soft materials. Candidates with an experience in simulations of liquid crystals are strongly encouraged to apply.
