The University is participating in the national pilot of the Science in Australia Gender Equity (SAGE) scheme, associated with the UK Athena SWAN initiative. SAGE aims to improve gender equity in Australian research organisations by supporting hiring, promotion, participation, and retention of women in science, technology, engineering, mathematics and medicine. Participation in the SAGE pilot program is a key initiative supporting the University's Gender Equity Strategy.

The Role

A unique position has arisen for a highly-motivated individual that has a genuine passion for gender and cultural diversity to join the team within the Workplace Equity and Diversity team.

Reporting to the Manager, Workplace Equity & Diversity and working closely with the SAGE Project Lead, Professor Lesley Hughes, you will be pivotal in supporting the SAGE pilot program at the University and the application for Athena SWAN accreditation.

Selection Criteria

To be considered for this position, applicants should address the criteria listed below: 

  • Relevant degree and/or equivalent experience in Human Resources or related field.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of key gender equity and inclusion issues within higher education and scientific research workforces.
  • Experience in successfully managing and completing complex projects to a specific timeframe.
  • Experience developing, implementing and evaluating innovative programs and/or policies that address equity and diversity, social justice or social inclusion.
  • Demonstrated ability to collate, analyse and present qualitative and quantitative data to inform policy and program development and implementation.

Appointment Type: Fulltime, 2 year fixed term position.

Salary Package: $96,328 - $107,186 (HEW Level 8) per annum plus 17% superannuation and annual leave loading.
