A leader in computer science education and research in Canada, the Faculty of Computer Science’s faculty and instructors offer a Bachelor of Computer Science, Bachelor of Science (Software Engineering) jointly with the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, a Bachelor of Information Systems, a Certificate in Software Development and well-established Master’s and PhD programs, along with a long-standing nationally-recognized co-op program. The Faculty of Computer Science is one of the strongest research Faculties at the University with 19 full-time research faculty, including a Canada Research Chair in Cybersecurity, and outreach and collaborative research opportunities through the Faculty’s two research centers - the Information Security Center of Excellence (ISCX) and the IBM Center for Advanced Studies (CAS Atlantic) and the Faculty’s industry-focused Information Technology Centre, its in-house ACENet site for high-performance computing, and close interdisciplinary research ties with other UNB Faculties, and external industry partners. The faculty's teaching and research includes work in: Artificial Intelligence; Bioinformatics and Computational Science; Cloud Computing; Data Management, Analytics, and Mining; Embedded Systems; High Performance Computing; Human-Computer Interaction; Natural Language Processing; Networking, Data Communications, and Wireless; Optimization and Algorithmics; Security and Privacy; Software Engineering; Systems and Architecture.
Reporting to the Vice-President Academic (Fredericton), the Dean of Computer Science is responsible for the overall management of the Faculty of Computer Science, providing strong leadership for students, faculty, the University and the computer science community. The new Dean will be an accomplished teacher and researcher, an exceptional communicator, and a captivating advocate of the value of education in Computer Science within the University of New Brunswick and beyond. An experienced administrator, you will foster a collegial environment and will be a confident contributor to the University’s senior leadership. Working collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders, you will contribute to the development of the Faculty’s academic programs, teaching and research, promoting innovation, entrepreneurship and a student-focused approach.

As the ideal candidate, you are an accomplished academic and researcher committed to innovation, collaboration and student success. You have an appreciation for teaching, theoretical and applied research and service. You view the discipline of computer science from a broad perspective and are interested in the dynamic impact of computer science education and application. You bring administrative leadership experience characterized by transparency and collegiality. An effective and passionate advocate and spokesperson, you are able to build effective relationships with students and colleagues within the university and partnerships with industry, other institutions and government locally, nationally and internationally.
