The Australian Institute for Innovative Materials (AIIM) is a flagship research institute at University of Wollongong based on its Innovation Campus.  It conducts fundamental and applied research in the development of new materials for a diverse range of applications, including energy and biomedical devices. The research ranges from basic discovery to prototype and device manufacture and testing.  AIIM supports over 300 research and professional staff and students and a diverse array of state-of-state equipment.

AIIM is looking to recruit a new Chief Operating Officer (COO). The COO has critical responsibility to ensure the research activities can be carried out safely and ethically and that AIIM operates in an efficient, effective manner.  The successful candidate will be dynamic, have extensive experience in organisational leadership and management, leading and motivating staff and managing competing demands on a range of responsibilities including finances and budgets. She/he will be adept at managing internal and external stakeholder relations and increasing industry engagement and partnerships. She/he will have excellent interpersonal skills to help achieve the Institute’s strategic objectives through direct communication and consultation with staff and colleagues.
