European Humanities University (EHU) was founded in Minsk, Belarus in 1992. Since 2006 EHU has operated in Vilnius, Lithuania, as the only recognized university in exile in Europe. EHU is supported by tuition fees, private foundations and donors, among them the European Commission, the U.S. Government and the governments of more than 15 European member states. EHU provides students from Belarus and the region with a liberal education in a free and democratic environment.
Rector for the European Humanities University (EHU)
The European Humanities University (EHU) is looking for a new Rector. The Rector will report to the Governing Board of the university, and will collaborate directly with administrative officers who lead a multinational staff responsible for all aspects of academic and logistical management.
As our new Rector you will act as a transformative leader, who ensures that EHU becomes a first class university delivering state of the art liberal education to students from Belarus and the region in a free democratic environment.
You will provide strategic leadership working with donors to maintain and identify public and private sources of revenue to support the mission of EHU exercising financial and academic oversight and leadership.
You will implement a clear vision and mission for the university, which will be translated into clear, realistic and ambitious work plans for academic and financial performance of the university improving the reputation of EHU and expanding the student recruitment.
You will motivate and engage our staff in achieving better results working closely with our lecturers on the development of an international core curriculum or education model for humanities and social sciences in accordance with the highest European standards.
In order to succeed you hold a PhD or equivalent and have more than 15 years of experience with teaching and research at university level preferably in the field of humanities and social sciences. You have more than 5 years of senior leadership experience from a college or university and experience in working with EU structures demonstrating a good knowledge of the European university sector. You are fluent in English. Knowledge of the regional socio-cultural context, experience in working with universities from the post-Soviet region, and knowledge of Russian and/or Belarusian would be considered as an advantage.
You demonstrate strong leadership skills with the ability to lead, manage and motivate diverse, complex and international teams. You make excellent judgements and take the right decisions knowing when and how to delegate effectively. You have strong analytical, interpersonal and intercultural skills and you demonstrate a high motivation for delivering education as the essential foundation for successful professional lives and for inclusive and creative democratic societies.
