Job Summary

Caltech Employment and Recruiting Services is looking for a senior level recruiter to join our team. The Senior Recruiter is responsible for supporting the overall recruiting program at Caltech in accordance with our hiring guidelines and policies.
In addition to partnering with hiring organizations to develop recruitment strategies for all levels of openings in a variety of disciplines, he or she will also serve as a full lifecycle recruiter, managing the hiring process from requisition generation to offer delivery. The Senior Recruiter is also responsible for developing sourcing strategies for job specific hiring needs, recruiting and interviewing potential candidates and building an ongoing candidate pipeline using research, networking, and online job database information. The Senior Recruiter will contribute to the overall success of the recruiting group by providing a high level of customer service and quality throughout the recruiting process.

Job Duties

• Partner with hiring managers to develop recruitment strategies and create individualized sourcing plans to fill openings
• Build and maintain candidate pipelines and proactively source candidates for all openings for all divisions across the Institute
• Collaborate with team members, HR and community partners and others to build consensus and/or drive strategy
• Work closely with hiring organizations in all aspects of the applicant tracking system (ATS) and educating them on employment policies and procedures
• Network, recruit and interview candidates in a variety of skill sets
• Utilize creative sourcing strategies to attract passive and quality candidates
• Assess candidates to determine whether their capabilities match job requirements
• Determine job offer details; negotiate, prepare, and extend new-hire offers
• Establish trust and confidence by maintaining a high level of credibility, integrity, and skilled communications with managers and staff
• Ensure candidates have a successful interview and new hire experience
• Attend career fairs and networking events as required
• Maintain responsibility for entry, maintenance, and integrity of data in the (ATS) and Oracle
• Communicate professionally, tactfully, and with the utmost diplomacy at all times, treating all candidates with dignity and respect. Maintain a high level of confidentiality at all times
• Participate in process development and process improvement teams and perform other duties as assigned

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree
• 6 or more years of direct recruiting experience
• Proven ability to source candidates and build pipelines with minimal tools and/or job boards
• Experience with LinkedIn Recruiter; demonstrated ability to utilize as a sourcing and talent pipelining tool
• Strong communication, interpersonal, teamwork, and organizational skills with superior verbal and written communication skills, with an emphasis on tact and diplomacy
• Proven ability to consistently and positively contribute in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment with the ability to prioritize multiple functions and tasks and manage time efficiently
• Self-directed, flexible and detail-oriented problem solver with a strong desire to contribute to the organization’s reputation and success
• PC proficiency in MS Office, including Word and Excel
• Experience with recruiting information/applicant tracking systems

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Oracle, People Admin and Taleo
• Experience in science, research or higher education environment
