The SiMERR National Research Centre, within the school of Education at UNE consists of a team of 20+ people including academic staff whose expertise lies in science, mathematics and ICT education and addressing learning difficulties. About the role

The Web Programmers are members of the SiMERR IT Team helping to design, create, and maintain web based applications and features to provide value to SiMERR stakeholders.

Key responsibilities include: development and maintenance of dynamic web based applications in an agile environment; develop and optimize database schemas, procedures, views and triggers;program using modern web-based languages; utilise version control software to collaborate with team members; monitor and respond to risks; analyse customer requirements and provide technical solutions;and train and mentor SiMERR staff in the effective use of IT.

Skills & Experience to include:

  • high level programming skills and experience in SQL, PHP, JavaScript, HTML, and CSS;
  • extensive experience working with MySQL databases and Apache web servers;
  • proficiency in the use of modern collaboration software such as Git;
  • high levels of initiative and problem solving skills; and
  • great teamwork and liaison abilities.
