Director of the Vice-Chancellor's Office and Chief of Staff
The Chief of Staff provides the Vice-Chancellor with authoritative, high quality advice on a broad range of University issues, strategies and activities including project management and budget and financial planning; the position develops or oversees the development of advice and position/policy papers for consideration by the Vice-Chancellor and the University Executive.
Utilising excellent interpersonal skills, a dedication to consultation and consensus building and the capacity to inspire confidence, the incumbent will build strong professional networks with academic and administrative colleagues to undertake a broad range of tasks that require effective liaison with a wide range of people within the University. The Chief of Staff requires tact, sensitivity, independent judgment, diplomacy, organisational skill and flexibility and will work with highly confidential and sensitive information, maintaining the highest professional standards of confidence and discretion.
Serving as principal aide to the Vice-Chancellor, the Chief of Staff will have oversight of, and management responsibilities for, the coordination of all functions, activities and day-to-day operations of the Vice-Chancellor's portfolio, ensuring efficiency and effectiveness and optimising use of available resources.
