The Faculty of Health Sciences is one of five faculties at the University of Adelaide. Comprised of five schools and a number of disciplines, research centres and institutes, the faculty is focused on education excellence and innovative research in the health sciences.

Programs taught out of the faculty train medical practitioners: surgeons, dentists, nurses and psychologists and other health professionals. The faculty boasts one of the largest concentrations of leading researchers, academic teachers and clinical titleholders working across the areas of health.

The Adelaide Health Simulation & Skills Centre (AHSSC) is one of the most high-tech healthcare teaching facilities in Australia. The Centre has been developed to address current and future inter-professional learning needs of health and related workforces to improve patient care. The State of the art facility boasts the latest in Audio Visual, simulation and teaching technologies but does not lose sight in teaching the basics. The AHSSC delivers courses in Medicine, Nursing, Dentistry and Psychology as well as a range of clients in the postgraduate training areas. It has a focus on delivering and innovating evidenced based education making it an exciting place to work.

This role focuses on meeting the needs of the 2000+ students passing through the simulation centre's doors each year. Responsibilities will include day to day running of simulation sessions for all professions and disciplines; the coordination of teaching staff; assistance and direction of technical staff; delivery of teaching within the different professions (within your scope of practice, training will also be provided). There will be an expectation to develop, innovate and research different techniques or approaches to constantly improve education delivery. Simulation based education experience is desirable but not essential as training will be provided.

Salary: (Level A) $63,975 - $86,820 per annum

Superannuation: An employer contribution of 9.5% applies

Term of position: This fixed-term contract is available immediately until 31st December 2017

Position requirements

To be successful you should have:

  • At least 4 years practice in healthcare with a current registration with AHPRA
  • Demonstrated skills & expertise in clinical teaching
  • Demonstrated experience/capacity to undertake course coordination
  • Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team environment
  • Knowledge of basic principals of Simulation Based Education
