About the job

We are seeking an Administrative Officer to provide high-level, confidential executive support to the Director: Industry Doctoral Training Centre (IDTC) based in Canberra. You will liaise closely and establish positive working relationships with senior members of ATN Universities and industry as you negotiate and prioritise appointments to effectively manage the diary of the Director: IDTC.

In addition to executive support, this dynamic role provides comprehensive administrative support including tracking progress of IDTC students, and providing oversight and coordination of IDTC projects including events to enhance the IDTC’s standing with targeted business, government and university organisations.

Skills and Experience

To be successful, you will demonstrate extensive experience in providing confidential, high level administrative support at an executive level, coupled with initiative and resourcefulness to manage multiple priorities under broad direction.

Your exemplary interpersonal and negotiation skills will allow you to operate with a high level of discretion and diplomacy in dealing with stakeholders from a diverse range of cultural backgrounds.

Operating flexibly within a busy, complex and rapidly changing environment, and working effectively as part of a team, will ensure your success in this role. Experience working in a commercial environment is highly advantageous.

ATN Industry Doctoral Training Centre

The Australian Technology Network of Universities (ATN) is a coalition of five leading Australian universities (RMIT University, Queensland University of Technology, University of Technology Sydney, University of South Australia and Curtin University) which share a heritage of working with industry and a united vision for the future.  Together, these universities teach more than 220,000 students - or 17% of the Australian university system - including 52,000 postgraduates and 65,000 international students who begin or develop their careers with ATN universities.

The ATN Industry Doctoral Training Centre (IDTC) trains PhD students in partnership with industry. Each student undertakes a research project with an industry partner, participates in Centre activities with other students and also undertakes coursework in professional and technical skills. The IDTC builds on the ATN commitment to linking with industry and the ATN track record of providing career-driven courses for tomorrow’s leaders.
