Associate Professor in Surgery
The primary role of the incumbent is to teach, research/publish, consult, and provide general administration support to teaching within the section the staff is appointed, Conducts seminars, workshops and visits to appropriate organizations to enhance the delivery of the program. The role of the Associate Professor will involve planning and teaching programmes of study, assist in programme curricular development, assessing Student progress and provide advice and guidance to your Students, acting as a mentor where necessary to department staff members. Other duties may include assisting with the enrollment of Students and the preparation of their personal study programmes amongst others.
A relevant Masters Degree in Surgery with demonstrated research outcomes, or product design/development and/or patenting outcomes and/or project leadership/management outcomes and/or publications in recognized journals/outlets, and/or significant number of consultancy outcomes, is essential. Tertiary teaching experience or industrial/professional experiences or professional training experiences are necessary, but outstanding research/publication record and/or national recognition for academic leadership, can be substituted for teaching experience. Demonstrated ability to supervise students at masters level is necessary. The applicant should have over 5 years of post masterswork experience An Associate Professor is required to make an outstanding contribution to research and/or scholarship at the University. He/she shall have the ability to also provide an outstanding contribution to the collegial life and will have attained recognition at a national or international level in his/her discipline.
