Lecturer in the Centre for the Enhancement of Teaching and Learning (CETL) (Ref.: 201601568)
Applications are invited for appointment as Lecturer in the Centre for the Enhancement of Teaching and Learning (CETL), to commence on February 2017 or as soon as possible thereafter, on a two-year fixed-term basis, with the possibility of renewal.
Applicants should possess a Ph.D. degree, with not less than 2 years’ teaching experience at the tertiary level. They should also have effective verbal and written English communication skills, well-developed interpersonal skills and a commitment to the scholarship of teaching and learning. A Ph.D. with a focus on teaching and learning within higher education would be advantageous, although doctorates from other disciplines are appropriate if candidates can demonstrate a strong knowledge of the major pedagogical models that are relevant to higher education. In addition to general teaching at tertiary level, experience in conducting small group tutorials and/or lab demonstrations, with Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) background and experience in eLearning and professional development would be valuable.
The appointee will contribute primarily to the development and delivery of the mandatory ‘Certificate of Teaching and Learning in Higher Education’ programme, currently offered by the Centre to all research postgraduate students of the University. There may also be opportunities to contribute broadly to other programmes offered by the Centre.
A globally competitive remuneration package commensurate with the appointee’s qualifications and experience will be offered. At current rates, salaries tax does not exceed 15% of gross income. The appointment will attract a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 15% of basic salary, as well as leave, and medical benefits. Please note that the University is not able to offer a relocation assistance package (including temporary University housing accommodation and a passage and baggage allowance) to the successful candidate recruited from overseas.
