Position Summary

An Invasive Species Specialist position (Research Associate I Special) available with the Center for Environmental Management of Military Lands to be assigned at CEMML-Fort Collins to provide support to natural resource management programs with an emphasis on management of exotic/invasive plant species and improving the diversity of native plant communities. May include support to other natural resource areas such as wildland fire, Geospatial development and environmental compliance.

Required Job Qualifications

BS in biology or ecology, or related applied science, and a minimum of 1 year of experience in the management of natural resources to include conducting functional botanical surveys, invasive species surveys and habitat assessments. Ability to work outdoors in rough terrain and inclement weather. Experience in data management in Excel and ArcMap, GIS data collection and application. Appointment is contingent on successful completion of a background check. Must have a valid driver’s license or the ability to obtain a driver’s license by the employment start date.

Preferred Job Qualifications

Master’s degree in biology, ecology or related field.
Experience in the inventory and control of invasive plants; experience in entemology (sampling and trap design) and pollinator species studies, including vegetative sampling methods.
Experience in designing and carrying out field studies and recording and analyzing field data.
Competency with GPS, GIS, and common office software.
Good written communication skills and experience creating publication style presentation materials.
