Description of Work Unit

The CSU Health Network at Colorado State University provides a full range of cost effective, on-campus, mental health and primary care medical services, referral for community specialty care and comprehensive health education and prevention services’ programming. Services such as physical therapy, dentistry and optometry, are available. The CSU Health Network is active in creating a healthy campus environment to support learning and success. Counseling Services at the CSU Health Network provides clinical services, outreach and consultation and training services. Our professional staff includes licensed psychologists, licensed clinical social workers, and licensed professional counselors, as well as graduate student staff from each of these disciplines. Our staff provides high quality mental health and substance use services that are easily accessible and support student success. We are dedicated to affirming respect, compassion, and acceptance for all, and we celebrate diversity with regard to all backgrounds and identities. Counseling Services supports the education and prevention mission of the CSU Health Network through presentations and training on mental health topics. Through outreach and consultation, we create collaborative, consultative relationships with offices serving students typically underrepresented in higher education and mental health services. Our training program provides post degree fellowship, internship, and practicum training to graduate students in psychology, social work, counseling, and student affairs. Position Summary

The Assistant Director/Group Services is a member of the Counseling Services Leadership Team, participating in the visioning and executive decision-making of the department. The Assistant Director provides leadership for and management of group services provided by Counseling Services. This position provides clinical training in group treatments to staff and graduate student trainees. Additionally, the Assistant Director/Group Services provides clinical service to University students, clinical supervision of graduate student trainees and unlicensed staff, and outreach to the campus community.

Required Job Qualifications

  • Currently licensed as a psychologist, clinical social worker, professional counselor, or marriage and family therapist
  • Minimum of 3 years post master’s degree experience (or equivalent years experience in a doctoral program that doesn’t grant a master’s degree) providing clinical services
  • Minimum of 3 years post master’s degree experience (or equivalent years experience in a doctoral program that doesn’t grant a master’s degree) providing clinical supervision

Preferred Job Qualifications

  • Experience providing clinical services and outreach in a college or university counseling
  • Experience providing clinical supervision and training in a college or university counseling center
  • Demonstrated organizational and program management skills
  • Experience teaching and supervising group therapy skills
  • Demonstrated commitment to, knowledge of, and experience with the treatment of individuals with marginalized identities
  • Experience working collaboratively in a multidisciplinary healthcare setting
  • Excellent written communication skills
  • Basic computer skills, including experience with electronic health records

  • Develops plan for graduate student training and staff continuing education in group services
  • Coordinates co-leader evaluations of the group experience
  • Administers student group participant feedback surveys

  • Provides on-call/triage services within a counseling center setting
  • Provides behavioral health consultations within a primary care clinic setting
  • Conducts intakes and assessment services
  • Provides individual and couple counseling/psychotherapy
  • Facilitates interpersonal process, theme, academic support, psychoeducational and skills groups
  • Responds to campus crises
  • Maintains accurate and timely documentation for all clinical interactions and consultations

  • Provides clinical supervision to assigned graduate student trainees and unlicensed professional staff
  • Teaches and/or supervises graduate student seminars on Group Services
  • Provides continuing education to professional staff on group treatment

  • Serves on internal and external committees.
  • Represents CSU at regional and national conferences as funding allows
  • Follows agency policies and procedures with state mental health statutes, ethical guidelines, best practices and HIPAA
