The University of Buckingham is unique. Founded in 1976 by Oxford academics, it is the only independent, not-for-profit University in the UK to have a Royal Charter, and this year it has been awarded 1st in the UK for Teaching Quality, 1st in the UK for Student Experience and 1st in the UK for Staff-Student ratios by The Times and Sunday Times ‘Good University Guide 2017’.
Following the appointment of Sir Anthony Seldon as Vice-Chancellor in September 2015, the University has embarked on an exciting phase of growth and development and is about to publish its ten-year strategic plan. The University is seeking to appoint a Deputy Vice-Chancellor who will be absolutely central to the future ambitions of the University as articulated in this plan. The Deputy Vice Chancellor will be a member of Council, the University’s governing body, deputy to the Vice Chancellor and the University’s Chief Operating Officer.
The successful candidate will be someone who has the appetite and skills to play a highly innovative and game-changing role at the forefront of the development of Britain’s leading independent University. We are looking for an outstanding individual and strategic thinker who works collaboratively and can oversee business projects with complex legal and financial issues and lead specialist teams to deliver the University’s vision. This position will suit someone who thrives on challenge and can demonstrate their success in delivering results.
