Oxford Brookes has established its position as one of the top modern universities in the country, consistently ranked amongst the highest in its peer group. With a long-standing reputation for innovation, it continues to redefine excellence in higher education as a distinctive and successful player in a complex and competitive market.  We are keenly aware of the economic, social and cultural world around us, and our responsibility to contribute to society and ensure that our students thrive.  We seek to offer a dynamic portfolio of courses, a sustainable approach to research, and an agile infrastructure so that we maintain our position as a premier learning and teaching institution with a strong research record.

Reporting to the Registrar and Chief Operating Officer, the newly-created role of Director of Marketing and Communications will lead the establishment of the Directorate and take responsibility for marketing, communications, UK Recruitment and Partnerships, Oxford Brookes International and External Relations.

The focus of this new Directorate is to ensure that marketing and communication activities are fully integrated to maximum effect, reinforcing the University’s brand, reputation and strengths.  We are looking to appoint a Director to help position Oxford Brookes as a global, impactful institution which is demonstrably one of the most successful and ambitious of the UK’s modern universities.

The successful candidate will have substantial experience of developing strategic and tactical marketing and communications plans in higher education or a related sector.  As a senior leader forming a new directorate, you must bring excellent people and budget management credentials combined with a creative side that will help define our market proposition. Importantly, candidates must be able to evidence that they are committed to the values and ethos of a leading modern university.
