CEDAR Trial Co-ordinator

Salary £36,001 - £40,523 (Grade J)
School of Social and Community Medicine
Full time
Open ended contract staff
Job number: ACAD102301

We are seeking an experienced study co-ordinator to join the Centre for Academic Primary Care Infection Group (http://www.bristol.ac.uk/primaryhealthcare/researchthemes/disease-management/infection.html) and manage a large, multi-centre, NIHR-funded, placebo-controlled Randomised Controlled Trial. ‘CEDAR’ is investigating whether analgesic ear drops can reduce the use of antibiotics, and improve ear pain in children presenting to primary care with acute otitis media. The Trial Coordinator’s role is central to successful recruitment, follow-up and reporting of this important study. The purpose of the role is to co-ordinate all aspects of the trial and will involve managing the trial team and supervising primary care site participation across England and Wales.

The successful candidate will have the skills to manage both the ‘detailed’ and ‘big picture’ elements of the study. They will oversee the recruitment and follow-up of participants and ensure the trial is conducted and reported to the highest possible standards. They will be expected to work on their own initiative, seeking guidance and advice where necessary from the Senior Research Projects Manager, the Chief Investigator and the trial management group. They will have autonomy and freedom to act independently within organisational policies, and will need to take a high level of responsibility.
