Director of HR Services
University of London
Competitive

The University of London is unlike many universities. It consists of 18 self-governing Colleges and 9 specialist research institutes. In many ways the Colleges are considered universities in their own right; they set their own entrance criteria for their courses and they offer their own services to students. Some now also have their own degree awarding powers. All students from all the Colleges and Institutes are also University of London students, making them part of a global community of over 170,000 students and giving them access to many services in London.

The University is currently in the process of seeking a new Director of HR Services for the 1,300 staff of its Central activities based in Senate House, Russell Square. Reporting to the HR Director & University Secretary, the successful candidate will lead the HR department, support the HR Director in the development of the HR strategy and manage and develop positive employee relations with the recognised trade unions and with the staff generally.

Candidates will bring exemplary and significant operational HR experience in a similar-sized, complex organisation. You will have substantial employee relations experience and a track record of leading on HR system implementations. You will have strong influencing, negotiating and interpersonal skills and an ability to work effectively in the University sector.  You will be target driven and bring a reputation for delivering quality, resilient and valued services yet balance this with the emotional intelligence to manage the many stakeholder groups involved in the University and wider community.
