Associate Professor or Assistant Professor in Anaesthesia
The appointee will be responsible to the Dean of the College of Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences, and will be required to supervise the postgraduate programme, and assist in undergraduate teaching of Anaesthesia Units in the MBBS and allied medical programmes in the Department of Medical Sciences. The appointee will also be required to carry out research and consultancy activities in the areas relevant to the needs of the region, activities related to teaching such as regular review of units and programmes, upgrade of equipment and resources, development of research and administrative matters and mentoring of junior staff and students. Activities associated with tutorials, lecturing, exam paper preparation & marking are to be implemented according to policies and procedures. He / She will also be responsible to demonstrate good practice in teaching, learning and assessment through the use of a wide range of learning resources and appropriate pedagogic practices.
Applicants must have a practicing clinician license with a Fellowship or a clinical Master’s Degree or equivalent in Anaesthesia or Doctor of Medicine.
Demonstrated teaching experience, and research and publication, and/or consultancy experience, in the relevant field. The candidate must be registrable as a specialist in the discipline by the Fiji Medical Council.
An Assistant Professor should have 5-7 years of relevant teaching or Clinical Work Experience
An Associate Professor should have atleast 8-14 years of relevant teaching or clinical work experience.
Assistant Professor/ Associate Professor is required to make an outstanding contribution to research and/or scholarship at the University. He/she shall have the ability to also provide an outstanding contribution to collegial life and will have attained recognition at a national or international level in his/her discipline.
