Dean of Business and Law
Dean of Business and Law
The University of East London is a dynamic university at the heart of London’s largest regeneration area and adjacent to the site of the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games. The University is known for its commitment to civic engagement and is an anchor university in East London. UEL is an ambitious university with 19,000 students from diverse backgrounds. With its improving results across research and teaching, the University is looking to reposition itself within the higher education sector and London.
The School of Business and Law is one of the largest schools at UEL. It is situated next to Stratford town centre and in close proximity to the new international business district that will be housed at the Olympic park. As such the School is strategically positioned to be at the centre of the new business growth and regeneration of East London, offering a range of exciting programmes and development opportunities for the local community.
The School is based at the new University Square Stratford (USS) site, a facility opened in 2013, which also lies within easy reach of a recently built library and business education space on the UEL Stratford campus which is a ten minute walk from University Square. The School is looking to identify a Dean who can take this exceptional School to the next level by creating a new space for professional education in business and law in East London. A key strategic focus for the next Dean will be to establish the School as a leader in the areas of business law and professional services by creating a flexible learning and teaching environment which places employers and employability at the heart of all its curricula decisions.
The new Dean will need to be commercially aware and entrepreneurial. We need a Dean who can combine successful management and leadership with a strong track record in delivering innovative programmes and student success driven by timely degree completion and employability. The successful candidate will be a change agent who is results driven and able to engage staff in delivering success. Your ability to engage key stakeholders and successfully develop new business opportunities will also be of paramount importance to us, as will your ability to oversee multiple projects and teams in the process of delivering new programmes that will further enhance UEL’s reputation. This role is a significant opportunity for an individual who thrives on delivering success for students; as well as being externally facing in terms of the further development of opportunities for the School, its students, its staff and its other key stakeholders.
