Professorship of Economic and Social History
in association with St Hilda’s College

The University of Oxford is seeking an outstanding candidate to fill the Professorship of Economic and Social History. Applications are welcome from historians of any period or area who seek to understand the development of social and economic arrangements over time, and apply socio-economic theories to them.

The Professorship is held in the Faculty of History in association with the Department of Economics, and the postholder will also be a Fellow of St Hilda’s College. She or he will be a member of the lively and intellectually stimulating research community of social and economic historians in Oxford and will have responsibility for developing the profile of Economic and Social History within Oxford and beyond.

The successful candidate will be a scholar of the highest international standing with an exceptional record of research and publication, proven leadership qualities, a record of successful undergraduate and graduate teaching and the ability and willingness to undertake senior administrative duties.
