The School of Animal and Veterinary Sciences is one of four schools in the Faculty of Sciences. Located at the University's Roseworthy campus, approximately 50 km north of Adelaide, it is South Australia's only veterinary school and an internationally renowned centre for excellence in dryland agriculture and animal production.

The school constitutes a team of world-class animal and veterinary science academics and clinicians. The facilities are state-of-the-art and include a veterinary hospital and centres for companion animal, production animal, and equine health. The campus is situated on a 1600 hectare property with a working farm, less than eight kilometres from the township of Gawler.

We are seeking an animal scientist with expertise in nutrition and biochemistry to join the school as an Associate Lecturer / Lecturer. The successful applicant will have the ability to contribute to teaching excellence in the Animal Science and Veterinary Biosciences degrees, and to develop research programs in Animal Science.

Salary: Level A $63,975 - $86,820 Level B $91, 393 - $108,532 per annum.

Superannuation: An employer contribution of 17% may apply.

Term of position: This continuing position is available in 2017

Associate Lecturer Level A:

Essential Minimum Criteria

  • Degree in Animal Science, Agricultural Science or equivalent.
  • Demonstrated knowledge in livestock production with a particular emphasis on nutrition, metabolism and biochemistry.
  • Demonstrated ability in undergraduate teaching.
  • Ability to contribute to the development and conduct of high quality research and teaching in animal sciences.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with researchers from different disciplinary backgrounds in the development of funding applications and implementation of research projects.
  • Evidence of a publication record relevant to experience.
  • Good written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to work collaboratively as a member of teaching and research teams.

Lecturer Level B:

  • PhD or equivalent experience in Animal Science, Agricultural Science or equivalent.
  • Demonstrated knowledge in livestock production with a particular emphasis on nutrition, metabolism and biochemistry.
  • Demonstrated ability in undergraduate teaching.
  • Ability to contribute to the development and conduct of high quality research and teaching in animal sciences.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with researchers from different disciplinary backgrounds in the development of funding applications and implementation of research projects.
  • Evidence of a publication record relevant to experience.
  • Good written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to work collaboratively as a member of teaching and research teams.
