The Opportunity

The primary purpose of the College Head is to maintain a constant and stabilising presence within the residential community, providing leadership, care, support and enrichment for residential students in personal, social, academic and recreational matters.

The College Head has functional management responsibility for all aspects of their residential community and the welfare and support of all who live in the community. The residential community is comprised of a hall of residence and/or an accommodation complex which may be made up of a number of units, flats and houses.

You will oversee the development and sustenance of an environment which has special regard for the individual and group needs of students, bearing in mind the multi-cultural nature and regional backgrounds of residents. You will assist with the development, organisation and implementation of an appropriate range of programs for the residential community. You will also be required to respond to and manage emergencies, incidents and situations within the residence in accordance with policy.

The position requires significant availability on weekends and outside normal business hours and you will be required to live on site, being available 48 weeks of the year. You will have an appreciation of the issues facing young people and a desire to develop an environment and corresponding support, engagement and development of residential communities and residents.

If you have proven experience and demonstrated ability to act and make sound judgement in times of crisis, to manage interpersonal relationships with sensitivity and flexibility and to encourage cooperation and responsibility amongst young people, we look forward to your application.

If you are interested in more than one RST position, you are required to submit a separate application for any or all of the available roles to ensure you are considered for multiple positions.

Making a job offer or appointment to this position will be subject to a prior satisfactory Working with Children check.

Your application must address the selection criteria. Please refer to "How to apply for Monash Jobs"
