Administration Officer - Primary Care Program, Mersey Campus
The University of Tasmania's Rural Clinical School (RCS) is based in the North West but works across the state, as part of an Australian Government initiative, to provide a national network of rural health professional education and training facilities. The vision of the RCS is to grow and strengthen the rural health professional workforce in the state and thereby improve access to healthcare services for rural Tasmanians in the longer term.
The Administration Officer will provide high-level administrative support to the RCS with a primary focus on the administration of the Primary Care Program (PCP) component of the undergraduate medical clinical education program. The Administration Officer will be based at the Mersey Community Hospital (MCH) and is responsible for the overall management and coordination of the RCS facility at the MCH.
In the role you will:
- Overall seamless management and operation of all facilities at RCS MCH, including student accommodation at Latrobe.
- Co-ordinate, organise and arrange timetabling for the RCS undergraduate clinical education programme in General Practice and community health under the guidance of the Co-Director(s). This includes developing and maintaining a comprehensive database for Primary Care Placements which records information on the GP and community health clinical training activities undertaken by students at the RCS
- Provide liaison support for Primary Care Placements including: co-ordination of workplace learning agreements; contact with Practice Managers; processing of Practice Incentive Program payments; recording of Quality Assurance and Continuing Professional Development points; managing educational resources for student development in General Practice and the MCH clinical education resource collection; and creating programs and timetables to engage rural community staff, allied health and visiting health professionals to provide further student involvement and education.
- Develop and nurture strong working and reporting links/relationships with Launceston and Hobart Clinical Schools and GP Practices across the State to share knowledge and avoid duplication with Practices in relation to undergraduate and postgraduate programs
- Management of the Year 3 rural placement program, including overall coordination of the program and organisation of travel and accommodation arrangements for students undertaking placements in or around the North West region in every rotation throughout the year.
You will be employed on a fixed term basis until 31 December 2018.
To be considered, you will have:
- Completion of a Diploma qualification in a relevant area with demonstrated experience, or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training
- Proven organisational skills, including the ability to prioritise tasks, manage conflicting demands, meet multiple deadlines and work in a dynamic environment
- Demonstrated ability to act independently with minimal supervision using a significant amount of initiative, judgement and discretion, as well as a capacity to work effectively and flexibly as a senior member of the administrative team
- Highly developed verbal communication, interpersonal and negotiation skills, including demonstrated ability to work with a range of internal and external stakeholders and staff.
- Highly developed written communication skills, with the ability to draft a variety of documents, including correspondence, minutes and reports.
Appointment to this role will be at HEO 5 and will have a total remuneration package of up to $85901 comprising base salary within the range of $64,060 to $ 73,420 plus 17% superannuation.
