Director of Strategy and Operations
UCL, Director of Strategy and Operations (Office of the Vice Provost, Development)
It’s All Academic.
We seek a highly motivated, innovative individual with outstanding strategy, project management and leadership skills to join the highly successful Office of the Vice-Provost (Development) in the role of Director of Strategy and Operations.
Philanthropy at UCL is about more than raising funds to support projects – it is about breaking down barriers, providing opportunities, and supporting the University to challenge convention, think differently and solve global challenges. In September 2016, UCL introduced a bold new global philanthropic Campaign, It’s All Academic, which aims to raise £600m. At its heart is radical, disruptive thinking that has been at the core of UCL since it was founded in 1826.
You will be a member of the Office of the Vice-Provost (Development) leadership team, reporting directly to the Vice-Provost (Development) and working regularly with UCL’s leadership team including the President and Provost. This role will act as the Campaign Director and will be responsible for ensuring philanthropic and engagement activities are strategic, coordinated and focused. You will develop relationships with fundraising partners to ensure the whole is greater than the sum of our parts; and provide strategic direction to our operations team.
We’re looking for someone exceptional. You must have experience of a leadership position in a complex operations role in the HE, not-for-profit or a comparable sector, demonstrable experience of formulating and implementing strategy, and evidence of quickly establishing credibility with senior staff and stakeholders. You will have outstanding interpersonal and influencing skills and be committed to championing a culture that values and develops its talent.
We offer an empowering values-based environment where staff are encouraged to try new things. We offer agile working and flexibility around working hours – this post could be a part-time role. We also value mutual respect and collaboration, and have a strong customer-service ethic. Expectations are high and we work hard, but the rewards are huge.
UCL is an outstanding place to work. In addition to working with some of the greatest intellects in the world, as a member of the UCL community you are entitled to a generous pension scheme and holiday entitlement, as well as opportunities for personal and professional growth. Further details can be found in the candidate pack for this role.
At UCL we are proud of our longstanding commitment to equality and diversity. We welcome people from all backgrounds and strive to create an environment where everyone can give it their best.
