The Fiji National University (FNU) has established the Department of Quality and Standards within the Division of Planning and Development. The objective of the department is to ensure the enhancement of quality in FNU’s entire operations as well as FNU approved policies and procedures.
This position is responsible for the coordination and provision of a range of quality advice, accreditation and administrative services in relation to ISO QMS 9001:2008 Certification processes.
The Quality Officer will work for the Quality Office and work with either a support service department or a college of the university. The Quality Officer will oversee and monitor the development and implementation of the quality improvement programs, in collaboration with the Director or Dean and other staff. Quality Officer will implement systems to ensure that the product or services conform to regulatory requirements, contractual obligations, and the University’s policies and procedures. He/ she will monitor activities to ensure timely data collection, meaningful analysis, trending, and improvements in outcomes.
The Quality Officer will work with the Senior Quality Officer to assist with quality control audits, ensuring that department or college is prepared for the audits and that processes and documentation are compliant with required standards and, implement follow up actions. Quality Officer will aid in the integration of the Quality Office into other key areas of the University, such as the new product or service introduction process, by identifying and implementing effective communication processes and feedback channels. He / She will check whether administration of customer complaints and monitoring of returns to help determine where emphasis should be placed to prevent recurrence and identify emerging trends. Quality Officer will maintain customer satisfaction and focus.
The post holder must be able to work under the direction of the Quality Office, calling on support when necessary from department or college, but taking the initiative and leading the processes to successful conclusion
A good first Degree, preferably in Science, HR Management, Accounting and/or Finance with a minimum of 2 years post degree relevant work experience.
The appointee will be an excellent communicator, able to write detailed and complex reports and have good organizing and persuasive skills. Postgraduate qualification holders would have an advantage. A valid driving license is desirable.
