The University of Edinburgh is an internationally renowned Research University, amongst the world’s top 20 institutions of higher education, and located in one of the world’s finest cities. The School of Engineering reflects all of the University’s principal characteristics, with a cosmopolitan academic staff numbering over 110, and with a body of 1,450 undergraduate and 500 postgraduate students drawn from all over the world.

We carry out internationally excellent teaching and research, attracting high-calibre students and an excellent level of research funding.
Building on our continued world-class research and teaching performance, we are seeking to appoint two tenure track Chancellor’s Fellows whose track record places them among the world’s brightest early career researchers. Within these prestigious posts, initially, you will focus on research and innovation, whilst gradually taking on teaching duties, reaching a full teaching portfolio after 5 years. At that stage, it is intended that you will be on an open-ended academic contract, subject to satisfactory
review at year 3. You will be expected to provide excellent vision and delivery in teaching and research, as well as contributing to the School or University leadership and management and to be involved in enhancing e-Learning and online teaching initiatives.
An important focus of this Fellowship will be to extend and develop our existing industrial collaboration and impact.

You will have begun to establish a reputation for the quality of your research in either academia or industry, and will have a commitment to enhancing teaching and student support at University level in the discipline of Civil Engineering, with a research focus linked to one or more of: data science for future infrastructure; the application of engineering principles to smart buildings/integrated digital environments; risk engineering for infrastructure; or resilience engineering for infrastructure. The appointee’s research
should have various potential applications with existing or new industrial partners. The culture of the School of Engineering and the University is open and diverse and we are committed to reflecting that in our appointment process

Salary : £49,230 - £55,389 per annum
