As Lecturer/Senior Lecturer you will be required to work as part of the team developing and maintaining the Year A clinical skills teaching program in the first year of the graduate entry Bachelor of Medical Science and Doctor of Medicine course. The clinical skills taught at this year level include history taking, clinical examination and selected clinical procedures (such as hand washing, basic life support and injection technique). You will be expected to contribute to program administration, the preparation of teaching materials and assessment, as well as the use of simulation in clinical skills education. The role in assessment involves the writing of questions for written examinations, developing and marking in-semester clinical skill assessment tasks and the preparation of Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE) stations.
Your specific responsibility areas include the conduct of tutorials, practical classes, demonstrations, workshops, small group sessions in the Year A medicine program according to their relevant clinical experience, preparing subject material for clinical skills teaching and assessment, program administration, monitoring equipment needs and the coordination of the clinical skills tutors for the delivery of classes in this year of the course.
As Lecturer you will report to the Associate Professor for Early Rural Medical Education based at the Churchill campus. You will be required to attend other campuses and academic units for the School of Rural Health, particularly in the Gippsland region.
