Communications, Marketing and Engagement

The Communications, Marketing and Engagement Division plays a key role in profiling and positioning the University of Waikato as a first choice among its diverse community, target and stakeholder groups.

We are poised to make great strides in our communications and external relations activity. There are exciting initiatives in development and we are looking for a leader to shape and drive the successful delivery of these initiatives. This is a great opportunity for an experienced communications professional to develop, protect and promote the University’s brand, including provision of strategic advice to enhance the University’s reputation and become the University of Choice for more New Zealand and international students.

Key areas of responsibility include strategic communications, alumni relations, external engagement, fundraising, public relations, media liaison, industry engagement, events planning and management as well as planning and managing the implementation of communication strategies that positions us regionally, nationally and internationally.

You will need to have demonstrated successful senior management experience in leading and managing staff including the ability to build teams to achieve agreed outcomes and enable staff to perform to their best. Knowledge and understanding of the relevant key issues in the tertiary education sector and demonstrated ability to understand the strategic issues facing universities.

You will be a great multi-tasker, networker and project manager, with the ability to write, and work well with colleagues in and out of the Division. You will understand the web and new-media, as well as traditional print across a range of communications areas. A tertiary degree is essential.
