Director of Veterinary Admissions
The Colorado State University College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences (CVMBS) is seeking a distinguished individual to provide leadership as the Director of Veterinary Admissions.
The Director of Veterinary Admissions will report to the Associate Dean for Veterinary Academic and Student Affairs (AD-DVM). This individual will provide leadership in DVM admissions and recruiting, and oversee career education and support to DVM students. Although the position is predominantly administrative, the successful candidate will be encouraged to engage productively in CVMBS teaching and/or service activities.
Required Job Qualifications
o DVM or equivalent professional degree with a minimum of 3 years of academic experience
o Demonstration of professional contribution (research/publications, teaching, service)
o Strong oral and written communication skills
o Leadership and managerial experience
o Proven ability to work both independently and collaboratively
o Efficient, productive, and experienced user of Microsoft Office or equivalent software
o Must have a valid driver’s license or the ability to obtain a driver’s license or access to a licensed driver by the employment start date.

o Publications relevant to advising, student affairs or admissions
o Active role in professional organizations (AVMA, AAVMC)
o Capacity to gather data and perform trends analyses
o Demonstrated commitment to student advocacy
o Demonstrated ability in crisis management, sound decision making

Job Duty Category Admissions
o Oversee and collaborate with Director of Admissions Operations, the DVM Admissions Committee and representatives from WICHE to optimize the admissions process, including the combined degree programs (DVM-MPH, DVM-MBA, DVM-MS-Ag, DVM-PhD).
o Direct the Vet Prep program, including admissions and advising.
o Collaborate with individuals from other veterinary programs in promoting efficiency and innovation in admissions procedures.
o Collaborate with Director of Admissions Operations, AD-DVM and Associate Dean for Undergraduate and Graduate Academic and Student Affairs to oversee and implement successful recruitment programs for potential applicants and offered students, including disadvantaged and underrepresented minority students.

o Collaborate with the Program Assistant, CVMBS and CSU Career Services, professional organizations and industry partners to develop career education, externship, advising and job placement services.

o Oversee coordination of preveterinary and veterinary student advising activities.
o Provide individual advising to applicants who are within 2 years of applying to the CSU DVM program.
o Collaborate with preveterinary advisors at CSU and other institutions.
o Provide Vet Prep students with ongoing advising and mentoring; coordinate a 1 credit fall and spring independent study course focused on academic preparation, careers, professional development and other relevant topics.

o Represent the CVMBS on appropriate AAVMC Committees.
o Assist in AVMA yearly interim accreditation reports and in the AVMA accreditation visit every 7 years.
o Serve as the CVMBS admissions representative on the WICHE Veterinary Medicine Advisory Council.
