Dean of Students
The University of Salford is a vibrant organisation with an ambitious direction of travel, with the role of Dean of Students being advertised at an exciting point in our journey. Well known for forging commercial and business partnerships across industry, Salford is now extending and deepening these relationships through the lens of our Industry Collaboration Zones. Embedded within the core of these Zones is the expectation of excellence in the student experience, realised through the fusion of a bold vision for a distinctive learning experience, a dynamic portfolio of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes and a focused co and extra-curricular offer which, together, meet and predict future employability and prepare our students for a successful life.
As a member of the University Management Team, the Dean of Students will play a pivotal role in the next stage of this journey, ensuring innovation and excellence in the student experience is realised and that holistic success is systematically nurtured.
Reporting to the Pro-Vice Chancellor Student Experience, the Dean of Students is an institutional leadership role which speaks directly to the University’s priority of putting our students at the heart of everything we do. Working collaboratively across both academic schools and professional services departments to deliver tangible benefits to the student experience, and operating as the key conduit for the partnership between the University and the Students’ Union, the Dean of Students combines strategic working and operational leadership at an institutional level. The role holder will put in place mechanisms which enable students to make the best of their time and potential, and ensure that the University responds flexibly and directly to our students and their needs.
To deliver the challenges of this role, the successful applicant will have a strong track record of leading initiatives to develop and enhance the student experience. S/he will be a strong completer-finisher and comfortable in a fast paced, creative and dynamic environment. The role holder will have a collaborative, outcome-driven leadership style with outstanding interpersonal skills and first rate communication and organisational ability.
