Applications are invited for the post of Lecturer/Assistant Professor in Humanitarian Action within the Agri-Business & Rural Development Section of the School of Agriculture and Food Science. 

The Lecturer/Assistant Professor in Humanitarian Action will be part of the Centre for Humanitarian Action (CHA)  The mission of the CHA is to enhance the professional delivery of humanitarian action through the provision of multi-disciplinary and internationally recognised research and education. In order to achieve this, the Centre aims to (i) educate the next generation of humanitarian actors to the highest professional and academic standards (ii) promote collaboration between higher education institutions in the area of humanitarian action (iii) conduct flagship research projects at the forefront of humanitarian studies in cooperation with our partners worldwide (iv) facilitate academic-practitioner links to enhance the efficacy of research and teaching in humanitarian action and bridge the divide between the field and higher education institutions (v) act as a hub for Irish humanitarian action in order to bring together the variety of humanitarian stakeholders in Ireland and ensure Ireland is a leader in humanitarian action through our combined effort.

The successful candidate will have specific expertise in Humanitarian Action and will be committed to further developing this expertise through academic research and engagement with industry partners, and to sharing this expertise through teaching undergraduate and graduate students.  He/she will also be committed to developing their discipline in the School, University and wider community.

The successful applicant will coordinate and deliver a number of academic modules either in full or in partnership with other staff members.  The appointee will be required to actively contribute to the operation and general academic responsibilities of the School and Centre.  It is a requirement that the appointee will develop a research programme and will represent UCD both nationally and internationally in humanitarian action.           

Salary Scale: €50,807- €76,936 per annum
Appointment will be made on scale and in accordance with the Department of Finance guidelines.
