Description of Work Unit

The Department of Statistics at Colorado State University currently comprises 17 faculty and over 50 graduate students, and has a network of faculty affiliates at nearby research agencies (National Center for Atmospheric Research, National Institute of Standards and Technology, and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, among others). Our faculty members have a wide range of expertise and are involved in various interdisciplinary graduate training and research activities.

Fort Collins, the home of Colorado State University, is located one hour north of Denver, in a beautiful location along the Front Range of the Rocky Mountains. Position Summary

The Department of Statistics at Colorado State University invites applications for a tenure track faculty position in statistics. A Ph.D. in statistics or a related fieeld and a commitment to high–quality research in statistics and excellence in teaching are required. The search is open to all areas of statistics related to data science. The department is seeking outstanding candidates who can contribute to its strong tradition for interdisciplinary research and education. The appointment will be at the Assistant Professor level with duties commencing August 2017.

Required Job Qualifications

A Ph.D. in statistics or a related field and a commitment to high–quality research in statistics and excellence in teaching are required.

Job Duty Category Research


The faculty member will be expected to develop an independent program of original research in the theory and applications of statistics. This is expected to include interdisciplinary collaborations with other disciplines. It is expected that at least part of the research will lead to externally funded projects.

Percentage Of Time 40 Job Duty Category Teaching


The faculty member will be expected to teach courses in statistics at all levels, and supervise graduate student projects and dissertation research.
