Durham University is one of the world’s top research intensive universities with strengths across the Arts and Humanities, Sciences and Social Sciences. The University sits in a beautiful, historic city where it shares ownership of a World Heritage Site with Durham Cathedral, one of the greatest Romanesque buildings in Western Europe. A collegiate University, Durham recruits outstanding students from across the world and offers an unmatched wider student experience.

Join us as a Lecturer in Human Geography, and you will discover a wonderful intellectual and social environment in which to make a career. Here, you will explore the frontiers of knowledge.

This is an opportunity to develop world class scholarship in one of the world’s best and most consistently excellent university Geography departments. We are seeking three new Lecturers, to each complement and extend the work of one or more research clusters: Culture-Economy-Life; Geographies of Health and Wellbeing; Politics - State - Space; Urban Worlds. Working within our active and inclusive research culture, you will be encouraged to develop a range of theoretical, conceptual and methodological approaches. What is more, we can support you with funding and resources. Naturally, you will also make a significant contribution to developing teaching.

To join us, you will need a relevant PhD, together with clear potential to secure funding and deliver internationally excellent, agenda setting published research. You will bring to the role a commitment to delivering excellent teaching at both undergraduate and postgraduate level. Put simply, you have the skills, expertise and commitment to play a part in achieving our ambitious vision - to become one of the key global hubs of geographic scholarship.

If you are an outstanding, enterprising, intellectually curious academic with ambition and a strong sense of collegiality, please do consider applying to Durham University.
