The University has embarked on an ambitious growth strategy, and each of the above Faculties is seeking to appoint an Associate Dean (Research and Development) to develop and implement strategies relating to research and innovation within the Faculty and ensure alignment with the University’s strategic direction to be Australia’s leading University in select areas of Science, Technology and Innovation.
The Associate Dean (Research and Development) will be responsible for providing high-level academic leadership to drive the Faculty’s research performance and development, and improve quality and impact in research, research supervision and research training.
The appointees will demonstrate outstanding academic leadership and have a research track record in a field relevant to the Faculty. The appointees will have experience in leading and managing research for growth, quality and impact, and will possess a collegial style.
Reporting to the Executive Dean, and as a member of the Faculty Executive, the Associate Dean (R&D) is a member of the higher education leadership team.
Note: The Associate Dean appointment is fixed term role for 3 years, underpinned by an ongoing Associate Professor / Professor position. At the end of the fixed term appointment, the term can be extended based on successful performance and upon agreement.
Skills and experience required
The appointees will demonstrate outstanding academic leadership and have a research track record in a field relevant to each Faculty. The appointees will have experience in leading and managing research for growth, quality and impact, and will possess a collegial style. The appointees will also have demonstrated experience of successful external engagement and research collaborations with industry and community or non-for-profit organisations.
