About the job
As a thought leader and driver of the strategic direction of the Future Industries Institute (FII), you will mentor and empower talented researchers to collaborate with industry to deliver innovations and new technological solutions in biomaterials engineering and nanomedicine.
Skills and Experience
Recognised nationally and internationally as a research leader or innovator in biomaterials engineering and nanomedicine or a related field, you will build upon existing relationships and forge new industry partnerships and networks.
Sustained competitive grant funding and a distinguished track record of high-quality publications are essential for candidates from an academic background. Candidates with equivalent industry experience will also be highly regarded and are encouraged to apply.

The Future Industries Institute’s (FII) mission is to transform the industries of today and seed the industries of tomorrow. FII represents the University of South Australia’s largest investment in research. Established in 2015, FII further enhances the University’s internationally competitive research capacity in core future industries across four key strands:
Biomaterials engineering and nanomedicine Minerals and resources engineering Energy and advanced manufacturing Environmental science and engineering
Facilitating an effective and sustainable collaboration between universities and business, FII supports state and national research and economic development priorities, and aims to drive economic growth in Australia.
To support and drive collaboration and economic transformation, the South Australian Government has invested $7.5million into the FII for the Future Industries Accelerator Program. The program provides opportunities for local businesses to engage with FII researchers and provides: access to infrastructure; research and development vouchers; and mobility grants.
Augmented by a major strategic partnership with University College London’s (UCL) Faculty of Engineering, FII undertakes global research, inspired by real world issues.
